In the beginning.
A brief history of Lothian Thistle.

During season 1996/97 they were crowned Division 1 Champions and won the prestigious East of Scotland 'Image Printers' Qualifying Cup defeating the Whitehill Welfare 2- 1 in the final, which at that time was unthinkable. It was the second time Lothian had defeated Whitehill that year and was a shock to everyone except those at Lothian.

The club claimed their first Scottish League scalp when they defeated Berwick Rangers in the semi-final of the 1999 City Cup, although they lost to Whitehill in the final, and further honours to come Lothian’s way are the Alex Jack Cup, won in seasons 2000/01 and 2003/04 and the King Cup in 2003/04.

Phil O’Neill became the first player to be capped for the Scotland semi-professional team, winning a total of six caps in season 2001/02 and 2002/03, following on the tradition of caps won by Lothian players in the Scottish Amateur team.

The club’s best ever league position of fourth was achieved in season 1999/00 on the move to Saughton Enclosure and work continues to improve the ‘Enclosure’ to bring the facilities up to the level required to be accepted as 'Associate Members' of the Scottish Football Association. Becoming members of the SFA will allow the club to compete in the preliminary stages of the Tennents Scottish Cup.
